I'm sure all parents go through these 'stressful' moments when their kid enters primary one, just like myself when Joel started P1 this year. Richard went to Joel's school on the first day and his picture appeared on The Straits Times the next day. A news reporter had captured Richard leaning forward to catch a photo of Joel, while parents standing next to him were equally busy taking snapshots of their kids to remember their first day at school.
The second day at school, I had the chance to go and visit Joel during his recess. While we were jostling for a space as the best look-out, there Joel was nonchalantly walking about choosing what food to buy while his buddy from P2 guided him along. He seemed carefree and happy to be on his own. What were we so worried about?
Let him find his own way. He will blossom.
